Together with the municipal museum, the city archive and the publisher “Schiermeier”, a digital town atlas (DVD) is produced for the great “850 years Munich” celebration. This atlas presents the cartographical history of Munich by means of more than 50 different maps.
Through a detailed database connection it is possible to show sights, archaeological excavations, important scenes and homes of famous inhabitants of 850 years Munich.
On the basis of a current city map, which has GPS, routing and navigation functions all available, cartographies over 850 years have been georeferenced. Against this background all database information of interesting points are shown in a topographical representation.
Thanks to the integrated GPS function, it is easy to find certain points. With the integrated player, all contained documents can be saved and played in any order. Users can zoom through the past and explore what happened in former times at the place where you are living today.
The city atlas was developed with the software CADdy GIS and finished by “Pack&Go”. With this functionality, GIS can also be used as a production and publication system for any project.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
