DGI 2009 Conference

DGI 2009 Conference
19 - 22 January 2009
QEII Conference Centre
London

The 5th annual DGI conference, dedicated to geospatial intelligence and key technologies used to maximise it’s use in defence and civilian organisations, is taking place QEII Exhibition Centre in London between the 19th and 22nd of January.

In 2008 we welcomed over 550 attendees, from 26 different countries.

* We are currently working with the Heads of GIS at key European and US MoDs, mapping agencies as well as their civilian colleagues (from the police, ambulance, emergency response and global humanitarian aid organisations), in order to find out about the latest geospatial intelligence developments want to see covered in the 2009 DGI conference agenda.

Key objectives of our audience –

1. Collecting the best available data from all appropriate sensor organisations

2. Managing and analysing the information to build intelligent databases and decision making tools.

3. Getting that information effectively to the right end user, in-theatre in HQ, or in the city.

..and the challenges stopping them achieving these objectives are:

1. Capacity limitations and lack of effective data collection, analysis and management practice is restricting their data collection potential.

2. The lack of an enterprise architecture at an overall capability level within the organisation means they are not making full use of the tools and technology they have to exploit the data.

3. The lack of real-life practical success stories in web based and mobile applications means there is little confidence in the viability of web access at this point in time.

If your company can help address and overcome any of the above issues then contact me now for the following important information;

* Current range of sponsorship opportunities still available, and the price of exhibiting.

* Details on how you can speakon the conference agenda, and demonstrate to the audience that you are at the forefront of geos
spatial intelligence developments.

* A list of the confirmed and invited speakers that will present at DGI 2009.

* A copy of the draft agenda so you can see more detail on the key topics and case studies being covered.

Key topics and case studies include:

* Using GIS to support security operations
* GIS in real-life combat: Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa & Asia case studies
* Achieving full interoperability between different nations military GIS capabilities
* Learning from the civilian GIS agencies: case studies of security, emergency response, police, border control and ambulance organisations
* Using new technologies to create a successful GIS architecture for the end user
* Transforming GIS capabilities onto a web based end user service
* New use of mobile devices in combat and civilian situations

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

HAVE WE REALLY LEARNT THE LESSONS FROM LAST YEAR’S FLOODS?

Flooding costs associated with extreme weather, both financial and emotional, have increased considerably over the last decade, and experts have predicted this trend is set to continue.

Paul Livett, Chairman of GroundSure looks into how increasing the use of flood risk information in property transactions can help to ensure both residential and commercial transactions are conducted on a truly informed basis, with buyers being made aware of environmental risks prior to purchase.

Over 2.2 million homes and small businesses in the UK are located in areas considered at risk of flooding, and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has said that 570,000 of these face a high risk of flooding. The floods in June and July last year left approximately 48,000 households… More…
