The sleeping giant has awoken. The Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) is toasting success and holding a celebratory event after being granted a Royal Charter.
ICES is a registered educational charity and professional membership organisation for surveyors working within the civil engineering sector and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
The Royal Charter has been granted following a vigorous three year assessment process overseen by the Privy Council. This involved proving the institution’s unique credentials and enlisting letters of support from other construction industry related chartered organisations such as ICE and CIOB.
Guests at the event will include representatives from industry partners such as Balfour Beatty, Carillion, Network Rail and the Construction Industry Council (CIC).
Steve Jackson, president of ICES, said:
“Gaining a Royal Charter is a prestigious and important landmark. It confirms our credentials as the foremost body supporting and regulating the professional surveyor working in the civil engineering industry.
“We’re the only UK based professional body dedicated to the regulation, education and training of surveyors working within the civil engineering sector. Joining a professional institution offers members so many benefits, from furthering their career by achieving a professional qualification, to offering access to knowledge and expertise, and opportunities to network.”
