Cadcorp announces Workload Modeller for UK fire services market.
Operations support application enhances offering for sector.
Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp has announced the release of a new application for GIS users in the Fire Service sector. The Cadcorp Workload Modeller extends the range of applications available to fire services that are based on the Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System product suite. It has already been deployed at a number of UK Fire Services.
Cadcorp’s Workload Modeller provides transparent and flexible methods to model current resource workload against historic incident databases. Fire services are able to monitor levels of efficiency whilst also modelling ‘what if’ situations. The application significantly benefits emergency planning activities while providing a greater understanding of existing resilience. It helps satisfy the business needs of fire and rescue authorities which are increasingly driven by integrated risk management planning (IRMP) which, amongst other things, sets out when and where people and resources are needed and how they will be used.
Vikki Sharpe, Technical and Operational Support (Tops) Directorate of West Midlands Fire Service commented ”The Cadcorp Workload Modeller has allowed us to filter data quickly and effectively; predict at which fire stations the available appliances should be based to best address the selected level of demand, and to run scenario analysis which predicts impacts on performance. This software is easy to use, flexible and reliable, results are transparent and can be analysed.”
“The Cadcorp Workload Modeller is a significant extension to the range of applications available to Fire Services that are based on Cadcorp SIS”, said Mike O’Neil, managing director, Cadcorp. “We intend to provide further applications support to our users in this sector in the future”.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
