Brighton is first to benefit from Mayrise Online

Brighton is first to benefit from Mayrise Online

Brighton and Hove City Council is the first UK Local Authority to benefit from a brand new online service from Mayrise Systems. Frontline mapping and management systems including Street Works, Street Lighting and Highways will be remotely hosted with authorised users gaining secure access via the Internet. By using the latest server and virtualisation technologies MAYRISE Online is already delivering significant benefits enabling the Council to comply with Government legislation, improve communication and increase operational efficiencies.

Mayrise Systems have developed a mapping systems called MapNow that is fully integrated with their application systems. It provides instant click-to-view maps of the locations of assets such as street lights and defects such as potholes. Brighton and Hove City Council is a long term user of MAYRISE service management solutions with systems in place across the Environment Directorate, especially in the area of highways management. The first application to be remotely hosted by Mayrise was the Council’s Street Works system.

“Understandably, the restrictions and firewalls put in place to protect Council systems and data are becoming more secure and effective,” commented Jeff Elliott, Highways Services Manager. “Unfortunately that can cause problems fulfilling our statutory obligations, especially in the provision of Street Works coordination, as required under the Traffic Management Act. By transferring both the systems and data to a specialist service provider, such as Mayrise, we are now able to communicate openly and effectively with utility companies and other highways contractors helping to minimise the disruption to road users and pedestrians.”

Following the successful transference of the original MAYRISE application Brighton & Hove City Council is planning to outsource systems used to manage Street Lighting and Highways. “The benefits we have already gained will be rolled out as other service applications go online,” continued Mr Elliott. “We are also very excited by new opportunities afforded by this solution including the potential for mobile working. Overall this project has, and will continue, to deliver significant operational advantages and the support we have received at every stage has been first class.”

Mayrise Online, powered by the fastest managed hosting service in the UK. Expert technicians monitor the system around the clock ensuring data security and system performance. By utilising the latest in encryption technologies, fast connections and a first class backup and disaster recovery solution, Mayrise Online allows the secure and seamless hosting of customers’ key systems and data, by experts in their field, delivering a better service to end users and ultimately customers.
