Farnborough, 16 September 2008 - A vision of 3D Digital Cities will be presented in the UK in a keynote speech by Geoff Zeiss, Director of Technology at Autodesk at the annual conference – AGI GeoCommunity 08 – of the Association for Geographic Information. The conference takes place on 23 – 25 September at the Holiday Inn, Stratford-upon-Avon.
Autodesk, a leader of design innovation software, is a Platinum sponsor of this year’s event.
The convergence of Autodesk’s model-driven architectural and engineering design including building information modeling (BIM), geospatial, and 3D visualization technology provides a collaborative environment for analyzing, simulating and visualizing the impact of urban design and economic development decisions on a city-wide scale. Autodesk recently announced the signing of an agreement for a pilot project with the City of Salzburg, Austria to assist in the development of a 3D model, which will enable Salzburg as part of a public consultation process to analyse and visualize the impact of urban planning, tourism and economic development decisions.
Regarded as an visionary in the geospatial industry, Zeiss has more than 20 years experience in helping to pioneer unique, award-winning solutions to manage infrastructure using advanced modeling, data management, and geospatial information systems. He says that he regards the AGI conference as, “the most prestigious event of its kind in the UK “and “the natural choice for Autodesk to share its vision.”
