AeroGRID Teams up with DigitalGlobe

AeroGRID has signed an agreement with DigitalGlobe to resell their high-resolution satellite imagery. AeroGRID supplies high resolution data for over 20 countries across Europe and North America and this agreement enables the company to significantly extend its coverage of up to date imagery across the world.

DigitalGlobe currently operates two high resolution satellites, QuickBird and Worldview-1 which offer high-resolution orthorectified imagery at 60cm - colour and 50cm - black and white respectively. The launch of WorldView-2 (46cm – 8 band colour) is scheduled for Q3 2009. This satellite constellation will offer unrivalled data acquisition capacity, intra-day revisit to any point on the Earth’s surface and capture of up to 2m square kilometers per day.

AeroGRID partners operate 10 different survey aircraft and high-resolution digital cameras. Partners sell AeroGRID data within their own markets but all imagery is made available for purchase online. AeroGRID partners contribute aerial imagery data, and co-ordinate flying resources to their mutual benefit. New partners are welcome to join in order to extend coverage both in and beyond Europe to build the world’s largest commercial aerial imagery dataset.

“By adding DigitalGlobe’s QuickBird and WorldView satellite imagery to our own archive AeroGRID can now supply a much wider range of imagery to our customers,” said Miles Taylor, General Manager. “A good example is France where we can now offer imagery less than 5 years old for over 70% of the territory. The agreement follows successful supply of DigitalGlobe imagery to our clients for Warsaw (Poland) and Dubrovnik (Croatia) so we are thrilled with the new arrangements,” continued Taylor.
