Translating the UK Location Strategy into Wales - 10th February 2009
The INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) Directive comes into force in May 2009 and the UK Location Strategy was published in December 2009. Momentous events for GI in the UK, but what does it mean for GI in Wales? This Workshop sets the scene and then explores how it can be implemented within Wales. What are the obstacles and opportunities? What should be happening in Wales now and in the future to implement the Directive and Strategy? Come and learn and have your say!
Time for discussion in the Break Out groups will be limited. To enable us to get the best from the Workshop please consider the following beforehand. We will be dividing into three groups to look at three themes of GI use in Wales. All delegates will get a chance to discuss all themes.
1. Technical (systems, software. technologies etc)
2. Data (collection, management, standards, interoperability etc)
3. Infrastructure (by which we mean the governance, structures, funding and roles of the various sectors - public, private etc)
For each theme we will consider enablers, obstacles, and what the strategy should be and how to implement it.
