AGI GeoCommunity '08 'all-in' conference delegate packages are no longer available. Despite a larger allocation of hotel rooms this year in comparison to 2007, all these have now been sold.
Nevertheless AGI can still offer Day Passes for the time being. Delegates are welcome to buy conference Day Passes to attend both Day 1 and Day 2 or just a single day if preferred. These passes will include all the day's conference sessions, lunch and refreshments.
Each Day Pass is only £130+VAT for members and £160+VAT for non-members. Students get additional discounts.
In 2007 the conference sold out before the doors opened. All current indications are that this will happen again in 2008. We recommend that anyone seeking to attend AGI GeoCommunity '08 to book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
The conference will run from 24th to 25th September 2008 at the Holiday Inn, Stratford-upon-Avon, and will only be open to registered delegates.
About the Conference
AGI GeoCommunity '08 will build on the outstandingly successful formula of 2007. It will be a residential conference designed to bring together practitioners, academics, policy makers and suppliers with thought leaders from the UK and overseas. The theme of the conference will be 'Shaping a Changing World'.
As the leading independent GI event in the UK, it has attracted leading figures, as speakers, from Ordnance Survey, ESRI (UK), Autodesk, Multimap, Microsoft, The Environment Agency, Defence Geographic Centre and many others including: Vanessa Lawrence, Charles Kennelly, Sean Phelan, Charlie Pattinson, Geoff Zeiss and Stuart Haynes. They will join a large group of well known presenters and commentators in the conference programme. There will also be a debate chaired by Jeff Thurston, an INSPIRE stream and panel discussion as well as workshops and 'hands-on' training.
The conference will run from 24th to 25th September 2008 in Stratford-upon-Avon. Highly competitive delegate rates, including all accommodation and meals, should attract a larger than ever attendance from across the public and private sectors. On the night of the first full day of the conference, delegates will enjoy a party buffet dinner and entertainment plus a range of competitions and activities.
This year's conference will also offer a limited number of sponsors' spaces to showcase new products and services and meet with delegates at their exhibition pods. The conference format will offer our sponsors an unmatched opportunity to achieve close contact with the key participants and influencers in our industry.
'GI makes a significant contribution to efficient and effective government and adds value to many commercial sectors. In our world of change, disruption, challenge and opportunity our industry is increasingly helping shape our activities. AGI GeoCommunity '08 is about recognizing this and sharing our experience and vision. AGI believes that as in 2007, the conference will provide an excellent opportunity to celebrate success, share experience, inform and debate policy', stated Conference Chairman, Steven Feldman.

Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.MANAGING CLIMATIC RISK
Russell Osborne, Managing Director of Citizen Solutions for Northgate Public Services, comments on managing climate risk in the economic downturn.
During tough economic times, bold steps must be taken to ensure the long-term prosperity of the UK’s communities, economy and natural environment. As outlined in the 2008 Pre-Budget Report, the public sector is to act as the vehicle driving growth in the UK economy. We must make sure that… More…
