Currently AGI conference bookings are 17% ahead of those received at the same time in 2007.
Based on the success of AGI '07, AGI made more of the popular all-inclusive 2 day conference delegate packages available in 2008. However only 35 of these packages now remain. AGI regrets that this number of packages cannot be increased.
Once these remaining 35 packages are sold out, this highly attractive combination of two days of conference, conference meals and refreshments, the AGI Party and one night of hotel accommodation on the 24 September will no longer be available.
AGI will then only be able to sell day passes for the two days of the conference and delegates seeking local hotel accommodation will have to make their own arrangements.
Those planning to attend this year's conference who still wish to take advantage of this highly attractive 2 day conference package on offer are strongly recommended to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
The price of this '2 Day and 1 Night' package for AGI members is £320 + VAT and for non-members £420 + VAT.
The conference will run from 24th to 25th September 2008 at the Holiday Inn, Stratford-upon-Avon.
About the Conference
AGI GeoCommunity '08 will build on the outstandingly successful formula of 2007. It will be a residential conference designed to bring together practitioners, academics, policy makers and suppliers with thought leaders from the UK and overseas. The theme of the conference will be 'Shaping a Changing World'.
As the leading independent GI event in the UK, it has attracted leading figures, as speakers, from Ordnance Survey, ESRI (UK), Autodesk, Multimap, Microsoft, The Environment Agency, Defence Geographic Centre and many others including: Vanessa Lawrence, Charles Kennelly, Sean Phelan, Charlie Pattinson, Doug Eberhard and Stuart Haynes. They will join a large group of well known presenters and commentators in the conference programme. There will also be a debate chaired by Jeff Thurston, an INSPIRE stream and panel discussion as well as technical workshops and 'hands-on' training.
The conference will run from 24th to 25th September 2008 in Stratford-upon-Avon. Highly competitive delegate rates, including all accommodation and meals, should attract a larger than ever attendance from across the public and private sectors. On the night of the first full day of the conference, delegates will enjoy a party buffet dinner and entertainment plus a range of competitions and activities.
This year's conference will also offer a limited number of sponsors' spaces to showcase new products and services and meet with delegates at their exhibition pods. The conference format will offer our sponsors an unmatched opportunity to achieve close contact with the key participants and influencers in our industry.

Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.Lack of Location Awareness is ‘Analytical Blind Spot’ for Organisations.
Traditional Business Intelligence has looked at the ‘who’, ‘what’, and ‘why’ around data, but has ignored the ‘where’. Location is a core analytical dimension. Within this data lies a vast pool of intelligence that largely remains untapped for organisations. This rich data source is particularly important for UK Public Sector organisations in enabling a single view of the citizen, delivering citizen self-services, improving compliance, and optimising cost efficiencies.
Location is ubiquitous and influences most, if not all, business behaviour and outcomes – yet a lack of location awareness remains an analytical blind spot for a large number of organisations who have not considered how the geographic and location aspects of the data they hold affects their business processes… More…
