Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities at the UK’s largest and most comprehensive, independent location and geographic information conference are nearly sold out. The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) organisers of AGI GeoCommunity ‘10, have announced that with still more than four months left to go they have already sold more than two thirds of the available opportunities and expect to sell the remaining spaces well in advance of the September event.
Organisations already committed to the showcase exhibition include ESRI (UK) and Ordnance Survey as Platinum sponsors, Microsoft, GetMapping and Postcode Anywhere as Gold sponsors with Oracle, Navteq, Snowflake Software, Cadcorp, Pitney Bowes Business Insight, Star-Apic, Infoterra and UNIGIS as Silver or educational sponsors.
AGI GeoCommunity ’10 will take place from the 28th to the 30th September 2010, at the Holiday Inn in Stratford-upon-Avon and will combine world-class keynote presentations together with carefully selected conference papers under the theme ‘Opportunities in a Changing World’. This year's event will focus on the use of location to deliver operational efficiency savings, identifying and delivering excellence through the use of geographic information and measuring the positive affect spatial technology, data and insight can bring. AGI GeoCommunity ’10 will also offer delegates hands on training sessions, led by some of the most respected players from the world of geographic information, and of course a range of outstanding networking and social opportunities.
The organisers are also reporting an excellent response to the recently closed call for papers. “As in previous years we have received more than double the number of papers for consideration than we can accommodate within the multi stream programme,” commented Chris Holcroft, Director and CEO of the Association for Geographic Information. “The abstracts are of a high quality and topics include ‘The price of free data’, ‘Location Matters – in the Fire Service’ and ‘Privacy, a fine line between the right to a private life and the need for society to feel safe’. Other subjects include ‘Cybernetic Cities’, ‘Nuclear alternative site assessment’ and ‘Online mapping’.” All abstracts will now be considered by the organising committee and the full conference programme will be published in June.
Speakers already signed up for the AGI GeoCommunity ’10 conference programme include Dr Andrew Hudson-Smith from the University College London’s Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) who will give a plenary presentation and Mike Segal, Chairman and SRO of the UK Location Programme. Keynote presentations from senior executives of ESRI (UK) and Ordnance Survey will also be included in the final programme. More speakers and content will be announced in the run-up to the event.
