AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity, the UK’s largest dedicated event for the geographic information community, has completely sold out of residential conference packages. With just over two weeks before the exciting programme of informative and stimulating presentations, hands on workshops, lively debate and networking opportunities kicks off all accommodation inclusive delegate packages have been sold, leaving just a few day delegate passes available. The event organisers, The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) are advising anyone with an interest in attending this flagship event to book quickly to prevent disappointment.
“This event has been the centrepiece for the GI community for over 10 years,” said Chris Holcroft, Director and CEO of the AGI. “However this is the first time we have had to contemplate turning people away. We are enormously pleased with the support we have received from the GI community and we are looking forward to hosting a vibrant, dynamic and challenging conference.”
AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity is designed to bring together practitioners, academics, policy makers and suppliers with thought leaders from the UK and overseas. A packed conference programme including keynote presentations from senior executives representing Pitney Bowes MapInfo, ESRI, Ordnance Survey and Google has attracted record number of delegates. The conference will also feature speakers from Navteq, Oracle, Atkins, The Environment Agency,
Metropolitan Police and Zurich to name just a few.
The theme of this year’s conference, ‘Building a GeoCommunity’, addresses the increasingly important role of GI within business and government, exploring the growing importance of ‘where’ to individuals, commerce and policy making. Attendees at the event can attend hands on workshops led by GI professionals, participate in open debate sessions, network with peers at the AGI Party and view the latest product and service offerings at the Sponsor Showcase
Exhibition.
As part of the AGI Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD) and the Royal Geographical Society with IBG (RGS-IBG) hartered Geographer scheme delegates at AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity will be able to use their attendance as part of their annual training objective.
