3D Laser Mapping Supplies First VZ-400 Laser

UK-based 3D Laser Mapping has supplied a revolutionary laser mapping system to surveying specialists APR Services. The VZ-400, part of the Riegl V-Line range, will be used by APR to enhance their existing surveying and scanning capabilities both in the UK and overseas for a variety of archaeological, geological, heritage, and architectural projects.

APR Services offers both traditional and high tech solutions for land, building and engineering survey projects as well as offering a scanning bureau service. Working for prestigious organisations such as English Heritage, APR has developed an enviable reputation for completing projects with deliverables ranging from raw scan data through to full 3D models and visualisations.

“As soon as we saw the capabilities of new scanner we made the decision to upgrade,” commented Tony Rogers, Managing Director of APR Services. “APR has a reputation of providing high quality end product and specialising in the more difficult and testing aspects of surveying and we have always aimed to adopt new methods and technology in order to maintain and improve our service. The VZ-400 is faster, quicker and more accurate than other similar scanners and also much smaller to move around and transport. ”

Part of the Riegl V-Line range the VZ-400 utilises unique echo digitisation and online waveform analysis to achieve superior performance and accuracies of measurement, even under adverse weather conditions. Achieving accuracies of 5mm at ranges of up to 500 metres the VZ-400 can measure up to 125,000 points per second with a 360-degree field of view. The evaluation of multiple targets combined with a reliable, robust and lightweight construction makes the VZ-400 ideally suited to civil engineering, city modelling and architectural projects, for example.

“We have worked with 3D Laser Mapping for many years now and have always appreciated the quality of service and depth of knowledge,” continued Rogers. “If you need advice on laser scanning, 3D Laser Mapping are the people to ask.”

3D Laser Mapping is a global developer of laser scanning solutions for sectors such as mapping, mining and manufacturing. 3D Laser Mapping specialises in integrating laser scanning hardware with their own software and peripherals to create solutions at the cutting edge of technology. 3D Laser Mapping is also proud to work with some of the leading providers of laser scanning hardware, including Riegl as a Premier Distributor.
