1Spatial is pleased to announce a comprehensive final agenda for its 2008 Conference: ‘1 Source of Truth’, including a number of educational opportunities. The Conference is being held from 29th April to 1st May at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Stansted Airport, UK.
The agenda programme for the 1Spatial Conference 2008 features an exciting line-up of keynote speeches across the main two days of the event, as well as a number of sector-specific presentations across four tracks on Thursday 1st May. Keynote speakers on Wednesday 30th April include Katalin Tóth from the European Commission Joint Research Centre, Spatial Data Infrastructures Unit, Dave Lovell and Antti Jakobsson from EuroGeographics, Nick Whitehead from Oracle and Les Hawker from Transport for London.
Thursday 1st May features three more keynote speakers on the main stage; Allan Rasmussen from Tele Atlas, Ted Beardsall CBE, Deputy Chief Executive of Land Registry of England and Wales and Tyler Mitchell, Executive Director, Open Source Geospatial Foundation; the rest of the day splits into four sector-based tracks: Public Sector, Utilities, 3D and Convergence, and National Mapping Agencies and Data Suppliers. These tracks will feature sector-specific presentations by speakers working within these areas.

· Geoff Smith, Head of Earth Observation Group, and Dan Morton, Scientific Programmer, from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology

· Dr Anthony Beck, Research Fellow (VISTA Project) University of Leeds
· Michelle Kiernan, GIS Officer from MidCoast Water, Australia
3D and Convergence
· Geoff Zeiss, Director of Technology at Autodesk
· Gregory Reinecke, Business Development Director for LSI
National Mapping Agencies and Data Suppliers
· Geoff Howard, Manager – Specialist Processing and Data Management for Land Information New Zealand
· Dan Paull, Chief Executive Officer for Public Sector Mapping Agencies, Australia
The Conference will also provide an educational forum for delegates via a range of activities including hands-on ‘lab’ sessions, seminars and product workshops. An HP-sponsored Usability Lab will provide delegates with the opportunity to test-drive cutting edge spatial software from a number of industry-leading organisations. There will also be a Data Quality Health Check Lab, hosted by Salford GIS, which will give attendees the chance to have their own sample spatial data put through a series of standard tests to assess its overall quality. Delegates will be shown how to run tests themselves and will receive a confidential report detailing the results.
Other presentations at the Conference agenda include a seminar focusing on security and access issues surrounding Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs), a presentation by 1Spatial’s Seb Lessware, Chair of the Open Geospatial Consortium’s Data Quality Working Group, and a seminar introducing the storage of spatial data in Oracle Spatial.
