telent and Swarco cooperation agreed

telent and Swarco have signed a collaboration agreement which brings to the UK urban traffic market a range of new and innovative products and services.

Announced at the Intertraffic exhibition in Amsterdam, the agreement is for five years and combines Swarco’s technical expertise and leading edge urban traffic products with telent’s industry experience and proven service delivery.

The first products to emerge from the partnership into the market will be the new range of Optima Traffic Signal Controllers and ancillary products which will be released in the 2nd quarter of 2010.

Speaking on behalf of telent, Keith Higginbotham, General Manager, Traffic Technology said: “Collaborating with Swarco seemed an obvious choice because of their vast experience in the development of traffic products and systems. This, coupled with telent’s systems integration and service strengths will offer measurable improvements in operational efficiency, security and the quality and timeliness of information provided to road users throughout the UK. This is a great opportunity for both companies and we are delighted to be able to bring such a compelling proposition to the UK market.”

Commenting on the agreement, Morten Andersson, Chief Operating Officer at Swarco’s Traffic Management Division said: “telent is the primary choice for a partner in the United Kingdom urban traffic market with their strong installed base and market presence. Swarco brings the very latest in advanced traffic products to support the sales, service and support organisation which will be the keystone of telent’s success.”
