imagina will present a very rich and high level Architecture & Urbanism, plus Landscape & Territory conference programme
Wednesday 3 February
10 :30 - 12:00 - Keynote by Jean Nouvel, Architect – Urban Designer, Ateliers Jean Nouvel
15:00 - 18:00 - Green building: 3D simulation at the service of sustainable architecture
3D calculation tools are now firmly established at every stage of architectural planning, due in no small part to the requirements of meeting evermore stringent environmental standards.
It is as much the environmental as the ecological and economic factors which account for the blurring of the line separating architectural design from engineering.
To what extent do these 3D tools - geared towards ensuring the environmental requirements [Haute Qualité Environnementale or ‘HQE’ in France] are respected - influence the actual design of building projects? Furthermore, can they actually hinder an architect’s creativity?
Is it possible, when designing a new building, to blend creativity with the necessary energy-efficiency performances? Or, on the contrary, are we drifting towards different relationships between prior images and final results?
imagina has set up, for its 2010 edition, a number of talks in which this increasingly relevant question will be examined and debated by professionals who are experiencing it; they will be sharing their points of view and thoughts on the topic with representatives from the sectors of architecture and town planning.
These experts will be explaining how 3D as an aid to sustainable development is now an integral part not only of their daily work, but also of the very way in which they create; they will be asking whether this can hinder what may be seen as their last true freedom to create.
> Pierre Jaboyedoff, Senior Research and Development Engineer and Project Manager, Sorane SA
> Sébastien Clert, Urban Designer, holding a Diploma in Architecture and Sustainable Urbanism, Executive for the Environmental Quality Department and Valentin Trillat holding a doctorate in Energy, Patriarche & Co.
> Digital mock-ups as a support tool for France’s Environment Round Table
