3D City & Territory Modeling: Issues and Perspectives
imagina is Europe’s foremost event in urban modelling and 3D landscaping, featuring 3D design solutions, presentations and the Digital City Village.
A brand leader for those working in territory planning, countryside preservation and urban administration (such as territorial engineers, urban designers, landscape designers, architects, land surveyors and geomatics surveyors) seeking to keep abreast of changes in modelling and 3D simulation that affect their profession.
* Thursday 4 February
* Friday 5 February
10:30 - 11:00 - 3D urban modelling: a move towards infinitely greater detail or an analytical tool for towns and territories?
> Jean-François Coulais, Engineer and Christian Père, Lecturer at l’ENSAM Cluny
11:00 - 11:30 - 3D Digital Towns and Cities: imagina Report 2010
> Hervé Halbout, Consultant, Expert in 3D and Geographic Information Systems.
Every year, the imagina Report on 3D Digital Towns and Cities examines the most significant 3D modelling projects – from urban and suburban to rural settings – carried out by local authorities, and explores the results they obtain. The Report has become an unmissable opportunity to analyse the range of applications offered by digital mock-ups, as well as the methods and technologies they use.
14:00 - 17:30 - Mock-ups: Tools for Sustainable Development
During the event, each group will have a ten minute slot in which to present their latest 3D mock-up at the ‘What are the new uses for 3D images?’ workshop.
This workshop will feature a professionally recognised jury that will decide on the three best uses of mock-ups in territory planning.
A prize will be awarded at the imagina Awards ceremony
* Why do local authorities encourage the development of 3D digital mock-ups?
* What applications are there for them?
* What needs do they meet?
* How much do they cost?
* Who develops them?
* Are they reliable and sustainable tools?
In what ways have 3D mock-ups become important strategic tools for local authorities?
imagina will attempt to answer these questions – special guests will include mayors and elected officials, politicians and regional technical and general services managers. Our guests will describe their experiences of working with digital mock-ups and will give their assessments on what the future holds for this technology.
