XYZ Increases Africa Business

XYZ are pleased to record that our business with Africa has continued to increase, credit crunch notwithstanding. December 2008 saw the completion of a series of six new SkyView posters of aerial views of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa, which have been published by Global Mapping. Also in December we have started work on a street atlas and wall map series for the City of Lagos in Nigeria on behalf of The Digital Mapping Company (Nigeria).

Forthcoming in 2009 is the major book project “Above the Fairest Cape – the air photo atlas of the Cape Peninsula”, which is due to be launched at the Cape Town book fair in June, and to be in the shops by August. This is an impressive full colour coffee table book in large format that will have 186 pages of the latest 2008 air photography and normal oblique images, including from the well know Hoberman Collection, plus an index and location maps.

The XYZ Digital Map Company was established by Dr Tim Rideout and Mark Fairbairn in June 1998. Since then the company has created street level mapping for part of the UK (including Edinburgh and Glasgow), digital air photography, and a range of World data sets and wall maps (almost all published by sister company Global Mapping). The company also specializes in mapping software, training, postcode products, and a whole lot more. In addition to creating maps for EARTH (the largest Atlas in the World), the company has provided map products to companies ranging from Moscow to California and South Africa.

The company is based just outside Edinburgh in Dalkeith.
