Time to Register for FIG 2010
More than 2,000 participants have already registered!
Over 2,000 people have now registered to attend the massive FIG 2010 Congress. This includes almost 250 accompanying persons and over 100 students. In total, much more than 2,000 people will come to Sydney Australia for the Congress. It will be the biggest surveying event in 2010, so please joint this international group from more than 100 countries. Numbers are increasing daily. The program includes about 800 presentations from 80 countries in more than 150 plenary sessions, technical and flash sessions, as well as pre-Congress and Conference workshops, forums and special meetings. See the updated program by clicking here. Haven’t booked in yet? Secure your place and register today by clicking here.
Attend a Technical Tour: Float on a Boat!
The Commission 4 Hydrographic Tour to historic Fort Denison in the middle of Sydney Harbour has proven so popular that we have had to organise a bigger boat! This is a great way to see the city from a water perspective, as well as learning about multi-beam sonar technology. However, places on this tour are still very limited, so register now. Check also the other technical tours by clicking here.
Sydney Town Hall!
Have we got something special for you! Join the Welcome Reception on Sunday night 11 April at the magnificent Sydney Town Hall which is located within walking distance of the Congress venue. This iconic building, built between 1868 and 1889, has just undergone major refurbishment and will provide an excellent first opportunity to showcase the profession, as well as get together with other congress participants.
Young Professionals: This is your Time!
Our Young Ambassadors are gearing up to show the younger members of the profession a great time whilst they are in Sydney. Darling Harbour is one of Sydney’s main playgrounds, with lots of things to see and do. As well as social activities, you should attend the open meeting for young surveyors on Monday afternoon, and contribute to the future direction of our profession. Another session to attend for both young surveyors and those interested in the future of our profession is the ‘Young Surveyors Network: Attracting New Generations” on Wednesday afternoon: These are only two of the many sessions that highlight the value of international congresses: providing delegates with the opportunity to influence our global profession and its place in society.
Remember to Book on the Great Social Activities
Participate also in the social activities – the Congress Dinner and FIG Foundation Dinner on a cruise to the Sydney Harbour are the social highlights of the week, click here for details.
There are still tickets available to the Golf Day! The Lakes course is truly magnificent, and this price will never be beaten – not even the locals can get it for this special Congress price! Please note that participation will be limited to the first 40 delegates to register for the Golf Day: click here for details.
Pre-Conference Seminar on the History of Surveying
The two-day History Seminar is an outstanding introduction to both Australian and world Surveying history, as well as displaying historic Parramatta and the elegant Dixson Galley of the Mitchell Library. Click here for details.
