Largest Technical Program at any FIG Event Ever
The largest technical program in FIG history includes, amongst its excellent technical papers, interesting case studies and a number of invited sessions in addition to plenary and keynote sessions and workshops. So this is a Congress for everyone, and not to be missed. Don’t forget to keep up to date with Congress developments by looking at the websites www.fig2010.com and www.fig.net . The latest version of the technical programme is available at www.fig.net/fig2010/techprog.htm
Welcome Reception at the Newly Renovated Sydney Town Hall - just for you!
Be sure not to miss the Welcome Reception in the Sydney Town Hall, within walking distance of the Congress venue. This iconic building, built between 1868 and 1889, has just undergone major refurbishment and will provide an excellent first opportunity to showcase the profession, as well as providing the venue to renew old friendships and make new ones as the FIG2010 Congress is welcomed to Sydney.
Young Professionals: This is your Congress
Younger members of the profession should really make plans to attend the open meeting for young surveyors on Monday afternoon, and contribute to the future direction of our profession. Yes, you can make a difference! Allied to this, another great session to attend for both young surveyors and those interested in the future of our profession is the ‘Young Surveyors Network: Attracting New Generations” on Wednesday afternoon. These are only two of the many sessions that highlight the value of international congresses: providing delegates with the opportunity to influence our global profession and its place in society.
What about your Accommodation? - Deadline 8 March
It’s only about seven weeks to the Congress so it is also the time to book your accommodation. Sydney has a variety of accommodation venues to suit all tastes: from camping on Cockatoo island in the middle of the harbour to 5 star hotels close to the Convention Centre. Don’t forget to check out the Congress Hotel, the Crowne Plaza, and the brand new Sydney Harbour YHA at The Rocks, with sensational views of the magnificent Sydney waterways. Please note that the deadline for accommodation bookings through the organisers is 8 March 2010 (or you can book yourself through the internet of course). It is recommended that you finalise your accommodation needs as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.
