West Yorkshire Police select Cadcorp

Stevenage, Herts. 8th October, 2009 – West Yorkshire Police identified the need for a completely integrated and corporate GIS solution to serve the needs of the various departments within the organisation. A full EU tender process was initiated in October 2008, and West Yorkshire Police GIS Project Team undertook a comprehensive needs analysis of the various departments that would benefit from a truly corporate GIS solution.

West Yorkshire Police determined 8 specific deliverables for a fully integrated corporate level GIS implementation including:

• Direct link to the Force Command and Control system to improve resource despatch and response times;
• The ability to analyse spatially based information to deliver tactical and strategic documents;
• Integration into the corporate data warehouse containing crime, incidents and intelligence;
• An intranet GIS solution for all employees to be able to access from any desktop;
• The ability to easily view useful operational information on a map, such as CCTV and key individual networks.

After a significant evaluation process, Cadcorp was selected to deliver a variety of GIS solutions to meet the diverse requirements, but with the underlying corporate approach to the eight deliverables.

Mike O’Neil, managing director, Cadcorp said, “We are very pleased that West Yorkshire Police has made the decision to base its corporate GIS on our technology. We look forward to working closely with them and to integrating Cadcorp SIS into their organisation”.
