Washtenaw County Selects Rolta's OnPointT

MARKHAM, ONTARIO, CANADA – July 09, 2009 – Orion Technology, a Division of Rolta Canada Limited, is pleased to announce today that they have been chosen to implement Rolta’s enterprise Web-GIS solution OnPoint™ for Washtenaw County, Michigan.

Washtenaw County, located in southeast Michigan is home to two major universities; the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. Covering an area of 720 square miles, its 27 cities, villages and townships are home to about 325,000 citizens in urban, suburban, and rural settings. Southeast Michigan has been hit particularly hard the downturn in the economy and decline of the auto industry. Facing budget cuts and an increased demand for economic development tools, Washtenaw County evaluated several solutions for rapid deployment of GIS applications. OnPoint’s affordability, user friendly interface, and ability to pull together multiple data sources from disparate systems made it the perfect solution for the County’s economic development needs.

“Being able to provide community profiles, information on parcels, municipal services and infrastructure could mean the difference between a business locating in the County or not” said GIS Coordinator, Kimberly Wraight. Through a partnership with the City of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County will be replacing all of the County’s existing online mapping applications with OnPoint and developing a joint City/County public safety and economic development website. “We are excited about the possibilities for collaboration OnPoint offers us. With OnPoint we can now integrate information from any of our 27 local governments and non-profit partners into a seamless easy to use interface for citizens and staff.”

Washtenaw County’s new City/County website will launch late August with improvements added throughout the remainder of 2009. Check http://www.ewashtenaw.org in late August for details.

Rolta’s OnPoint™ will be on display in the Rolta Booth at the 2009 ESRI International User Conference in San Diego at booth #1921. Demonstrations of OnPoint™ will be provided by the Rolta team throughout the duration of the conference.
