Visual Fusion powers Microsoft marketing effort

Lansing, MI – January 26, 2010 - Visual Fusion, the geospatial mashup platform from IDV Solutions, is helping Microsoft identify opportunities for its business-to-business marketing efforts, through a mapping and analysis application that is the subject of a new case study.

The case study, just published to the IDV Solutions website, recounts how the application unites the many data sources available to Microsoft's Global Marketing Operations group and presents them in the context of a visual, map-based interface.

"Everyone understands a map, so it’s an intuitive interface that our marketers and sales reps can use to quickly identify an opportunity and take immediate action." said Jennifer Kelly, Senior Marketing Manger of Reporting/Analysis in the Global Marketing Operations Group.

The application, which the group used for planning events around the launch of Windows 7, lets the users sift through terabytes of data and apply analytical approaches.

Visual Fusion's extensive out-of-the box configuration options were used to visualize the data in multiple ways. In addition, many of Microsoft's proprietary data cube relationships were built into the tool using the Visual Fusion SDK.

The full case study is available online at the link below (PDF file).
