Vilas County Selects Rolta

MARKHAM, ONTARIO, CANADA and MADISON, WI, USA – March 30, 2009 – Orion Technology, a Division of Rolta Canada Limited, and GeoAnalytics® is pleased to announce that they have been chosen to implement Rolta’s enterprise Web-GIS solution OnPoint™ for Vilas County, Wisconsin.

Located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods lake county, Vilas County is considered to have one of the world’s highest concentrations of inland freshwater lakes. Boasting over 1,300 lakes and 73 rivers and streams, Vilas County is also home to over 600 miles of well groomed snowmobile trails. This has brought recognition to Vilas County, ranking them among the top cross country ski areas in the United States.

“The Vilas County Land Information/Mapping and Surveyor Departments have been creating cadastral base map datasets to be used to provide a web based mapping service for approximately 10 years.” Said Barb Gibson, Vilas County GIS Coordinator. “Such data includes parcel lines, roads, water bodies, tax data, aerial photography, plat and survey information. Vilas County is a large, predominantly rural county in northern Wisconsin. Using this web service, users will be able to view land data from the comfort of their own home or office without the time and expense of traveling to the courthouse to obtain the desired information. The County is anxious to launch this service to the internet.”

Vilas County will use Rolta OnPoint™ as the next evolution of their internet and intranet web mapping solutions. Rolta OnPoint™ will provide a web-based, geospatially integrated view of critical information and work processes for the internal and external users at the County. In addition, Vilas County will be creating an ArcSDE 9.3 environment and moving its GIS data into the Geodatabase for use with ArcGIS Server 9.3 and Rolta OnPoint™.
