VIEWRANGER MAPS OUTDOORS ADVENTURES IN NORWAY

Augmentra Ltd, a leading innovator in mobile personal navigation software, and Geodata AS, a GIS specialist in Norway, have partnered to deliver ViewRanger Norway. For the first time it is possible to explore this beautiful country with the convenience of high-quality Statens Kartverk topographic mapping on your smartphone using ViewRanger, a sophisticated but easy-to-use off-road satellite navigation application.

Norway’s scenery is spectacular and everyone in Norway has a ’right of access‘ to the countryside – from the world-famous fjords of Western Norway, through extensive forests and twenty-one national parks, to the north of the country known for its wildlife safaris, midnight sun and northern lights. ViewRanger provides high resolution Statens Kartverk 1:50,000 scale maps with contours, roads, bodies of water, paths and tracks clearly displayed.

Other features include ‘Buddy Beacon’ for keeping track of friends and a sports computer for comparing routes and performance, adding a new dimension to leisure navigation and contributing to the enjoyment of the great outdoors. A 3D graphic panorama feature identifies points-of-interest in the landscape, and you can even take advantage of the phone’s camera to attach pictures and videos to locations on the map and share them with the world.

The award-winning ViewRanger software, developed by Augmentra, is fast becoming a ‘must have’ item for a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts and weekenders across Europe. Detailed topographic maps, sourced from national mapping agencies, can be downloaded in ViewRanger for a growing global community including Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Ireland, Slovenia and Switzerland.
