Transoft Solutions, industry leading developers of powerful design software for the transportation, engineering and architectural communities, announces the launch of GuidSIGN Version 5.0 with updated content for Canadian and Australian users. Used by DOT traffic engineers and AEC firms, GuidSIGN Version 5.0’s advanced features, functions, and easy usability can deliver cutter-ready signs designed to Canada MUTCDC 2008 update and Australia Standard AS 1743-2001 and AS 1744-1975 standards in minutes.
“With the addition of new functions, libraries, and updated standardization, users can efficiently create highway signs quickly and confidently,” said Transoft Solutions Technologist, Johann Flores. “That confidence in knowing that signs are being created following proper regulations will allow for a more efficient production process.”
Fully compatible with AutoCAD® 2004 - 2009 and MicroStation® V8.1 – XM, GuidSIGN Version 5.0’s most notable feature is the new QuicDesign template system. QuicDesign supplies US, Canada, and Australian national standard templates to help users create signs quickly and with greater consistency and ensures standardized sign creation for multiple stakeholders on shared projects. Additionally, designers can browse by road classification or sign designation to select the appropriate templates based on Canadian MUTCDC, AS 1743-2001, and AS 1744-1975 standards.
QuicDesign also give users the ability to replace the content of the template by keying in changes or through the new Name Lookup feature. With Name Lookup Canadian and Australian users can easily select Provincial, Territorial, and State place name dictionaries. Inversely, users can create templates from previously created guide signs. Additionally, once created, users can create a custom library of their completed signs for use in traffic signing plans and structural detail drawings.
Sign and content libraries within GuidSIGN have also been augmented to make them more extensive than previous versions. Included are more standard highway signs, panels, symbols, and diagrammatic arrow libraries for Canada, and Australia. In addition, the Create Custom Arrow tool gives designers the ability to create state specific arrows and further extend the arrow libraries.
In addition to the new template system and extensive (customizable) libraries, GuidSIGN Version 5.0’s interface and usability also get a boost over the previous versions. New built in command hints – a feature users can disable if they choose – give designers new to the software a shorter learning curve and more familiar users an alternative method of achieving similar outputs. As well, users of all levels can review the newly included tutorials to speed learning time or to just brush-up.
