Redlands, California — January 14, 2010 — A three-year enterprise license agreement (ELA) between Total Exploration and Production (E&P) and ESRI, in conjunction with ESRI France, will help Total E&P realize its goal of integrating spatial data with its mission-critical business processes. The use of geographic information system (GIS) technology has grown steadily at Total, and the ELA will simplify GIS software procurement and administration, make budget management more efficient, and facilitate software distribution to staff throughout the organization.
Jack Dangermond, ESRI president, says, "We applaud the leadership of Total E&P in speeding the deployment of spatial technologies to maximize worldwide GIS business value, and we look forward to welcoming them to our family of top-tier global petroleum GIS community leaders."
The agreement with ESRI gives Total E&P staff, located in offices in more than 40 countries, access to ArcGIS software, maintenance, and support. From a strategic standpoint, the ELA made sense for Total as it moves forward with its efforts to make spatial information available throughout the organization and put GIS into the hands of both geoscience and business users.
Marc Blaizot, Total E&P senior vice president, comments, "The result of mutual trust and shared expertise and vision, this contract forms the basis of a powerful global infrastructure for integrated intelligence, which can be applied to Total's exploration and production operations around the world."
A longtime ESRI software user, Total uses GIS technology to identify and evaluate exploration opportunities through geological and economic analysis and make effective decisions that ensure sustainable development. The agreement will be a step toward enabling Total to maximize its return on investments in exploration and production throughout the world.
"For more than 10 years, ESRI France has helped Total Exploration and Production develop its GIS applications," says Rony Gal, ESRI France founder and CEO. "We are honored that Total E&P has chosen to further expand our relationship to all of its international affiliates."
ESRI's ArcGIS software is an open and interoperable technology platform that provides advanced visualization and cartographic capabilities, spatial analysis, and geographic data management. ArcGIS software is a complete system to author, serve, and use spatial information. The technology delivers geographic information to those who need it including analysts, decision makers, field staff, and the public.
