The Swedish National Land Survey and Chaos systems have signed a contract regarding the survey and field data system TopoCadastre. The system handles field data from a large number of field survey systems of geodetic data, total stations and satellite receivers. Thanks to field codes, the data is stored in the map database of ArcCadastre.
The Swedish National Land Survey develops ArcCadastre, a system for geographical information management and production of maps in mission operations and in municipal activities. The systems is built on ESRI:s system ArcGIS. Earlier, ArcCadastre was using SurveyAnalyst, which now is replaced by the product TopoCadastre, developed by Chaos systems.
Chaos systems develops the CAD system Topocad, from which TopoCadastre now is created and adapted to the National Land Survey:s ArcCadastre. The system will be released together with ArcCadastre 3.0 in the beginning of 2011. About 1,000 people will use the product within mission operations and, in addition , 500 users within municipal activities will have access to the product when it is released.
Jan Nordin, Product Manager at The Swedish National Land Survey for ArcCadastre says: "With TopoCadastre we will finally get an excellent tool for field data management from different instruments, which takes us all the way to the database thanks to field codes and smart ways of managing different geometries. We are in the middle of a large changeover where we will only use ArcCadastre in our work, so now it is important to have a modern tool to handle this. In addition, we can offer this tool to all our external users in the municipalities and Metria, as they will receive it with release of ArcCadastre 3.0."
"Topocad is used by many of the Swedish municipalities already. In our product, we have made the connections to different databases and database adapters, for example ArcSDE for ArcGIS. It was a natural step for us to continue this development and integrate the product all the way with ArcCadastre. Together with the expertise of The Swedish National Land Survey:s ArcCadastre development, we will have a well integrated product, which is both flexible towards field data and still creates the correct data for the map database and mission operations", says Tomas Sandström, sales manager at Chaos systems.
The contract comprises development and exchange of SurveyAnalyst to TopoCadastre, and also education and supplementary training and support of the product. The value of the contract is estimated to approximately 7 million SEK during a 5 year period.
