SuperGeo Develops Campus Information Web System

SuperGeo Develops Campus Information Web System

SuperGeo Technologies established a WebGIS platform that integrates rich campus information with spatial data for the faculty, students, and general users interested in the campus of Kainan University. SuperWebGIS is utilized as the map server software to build the platform.

With the mature development, GIS is applied widely to various fields to solve numerous kinds of spatial problems. GIS technologies also play a crucial role in promoting the electronic application on campus. Through web applications and information science, the campus environment can be improved and the university administration can be enhanced.

Sustainable traffic management and community traffic system is the direction that Kainan University uses to establish the Campus Information Web System. The university also intends to offer more convenient campus information and services for the faculty, students, and the public.

The application adopts Microsoft Access as the goat platform for saving, maintaining, and managing the data. In addition, it employs SuperWebGIS as the map server platform to publish the statistic data and maps stored in the goat as map services to the Internet.

Users from everywhere can easily access the needed campus information through the general browsers, like Internet Explorer or Firefox, without the need of installing any Internet browser Plug-ins. Therefore, website visitors can understand the campus surroundings with complete campus information fast.

The system provides three main sub-systems, Campus Life Map, Before-Go System, and Carpool System. The Web-GIS site integrates the related information about food, accommodation, traffic, recreation, etc., to help the faculty and students easily understand the campus environment.

Besides, Carpool System provides open and detailed carpool information to secure students’ personal safety, and also makes up the weakness of the current school buses. Users can know the above information via a convenient platform.
