SuperGeo’s SuperPad 3 Highlights

SuperPad 3 is SuperGeo’s latest mobile GIS software for field surveyors to collect, map, measure, and locate GPS position with PDA mobile devices or other handheld devices. SuperPad 3 Beta will be going to available in early May. SuperPad 3 includes usability and performance enhancement to facilitate users to work more efficiently.

Compared with SuperPad 2, SuperGIS Mobile Engine 3.0 is the core of the SuperPad 3. Therefore, SuperPad 3 can not only be implemented in all handheld devices supporting .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP2 or higher but also can prevent the incompatibility between software and hardware. Moreover, the files in SuperPad 3 and the settings and the symbols in SuperGIS Desktop or other GIS software are exchangeable in order to increase the speed of mapping and the use of project. The main features of SuperPad 3 are listed below.

Brand-new Core Component

The core component of SuperPad 3 is SuperGIS Mobile Engine which is a set of SDK structured on .NET Compact Framework. Thus, all mobile devices which support .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP2 or higher can support SuperPad 3.

Whole New User Interface

SuperPad 3 provides whole new user interface. To provide more user-friendly interface, the new toolbars use a minimum amount of screen space, and there is sufficient space on the screen for layer display.

Whole new toolbar design

GPS status bar is added at the bottom of the window in SuperPad 3. Users can adjust the color and transparency of the status bar so that users can manage the coordinates clearly without reducing the space for map display.

Smart Editing Toolbar

In order to edit features efficiently, SuperPad 3 provides smart Editing Bar which provide several assistant tools, such as fixed extent, undo, redo, and etc. With these tools, users can conveniently handle the features and save the changes after confirming to significantly improve the editing efficiency.

Highly Flexible Open Component Structure

The highly flexible software structure of SuperPad 3 enables users to develop extensions, such as self-define layer format, thematic map display, symbol styles, customize attribute page, etc. As a result, SuperPad can be applied to more different domains, and the efficiency and the extension of filed survey can be improved as well.

Interoperability with SuperGIS Server and SuperGIS Image Server

SuperPad 3 official version will support the interoperability with SuperGIS Server and SuperGIS Image Server. Due to the internet booming, the speed of layers and images updating becomes increasingly essential. Via the Internet, users can not only synchronize with SuperGIS Server to edit, display and query layers, but also can download a great volume of images for displaying background from SuperGIS Image Server. Consequently, field surveyors can download the data via the Internet or upload the latest investigation results to the server to save the time and improve performance efficiency.

Improving the Use of Spatial Reference

SuperPad 3 offers complete spatial reference objects to support more than 100 commonly-used coordinate systems in the world. Therefore, layers with different coordinate systems can be adjusted and overlaid together in SuperPad 3, and the use of the layers can be increased.

Multiple Customized Extensions

SuperPad 3 offers various built-in customized extensions, such as Sketch, Bird View, Routing, etc. the original code sample will be appended in the product, enabling developers to develop various extensions quickly. The development environment can be Visual studio or text editors, such as Notepad. What you need to do is utilize VB.NET or C#, and the customize extension can be built up to meet developers’ need.

2.5D extension can provide 2.5D visual effectprovides
