A special session on FUZZY GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION is to be organized at the
Joint 2009 IFSA World Congress and 2009 EUSFLAT Conference to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, July 20-24, 2009
(see web sites below for details)
The use of Geographical Information is increasing and acquiring importance in many applications and areas of development. However, some types of Geographical Information have fuzzy characteristics or there is uncertainty in their definition and modeling. These impose new challenges to construct, manipulate, process and visualize geographical information, which may be based on fuzzy sets theory and/or fuzzy logic.
A special session on fuzzy geographical information is proposed to bring together specialists to present developments on these areas and to exchange ideas about new needs and potential directions of research.
We encourage the submission of papers, which have not been published or submitted to any other conference, on the following areas:
* Generation of fuzzy geographical entities
* Generation of Digital Terrain Models with fuzzy uncertainty
* Remote sensing image classification with fuzzy uncertainty
* GIS operations on fuzzy geographical information
* Visualization of fuzzy uncertainty in GIS
* Location-allocation algorithms incorporating fuzzy uncertainty
Important Dates:
* Paper submission: *9 January, 2009*
* Acceptance notification: *2 March, 2009*
* Camera-ready copy due: *3 April, 2009*
* Early Registration: *3 April, 2009*
Submitted papers must comply with the IFSA 2009 World Congress guidelines for submission, which can be found in the IFSA 2009 web page.
Papers submitted to this special session will go through the normal reviewing process. The accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
