Space technology and School of Administration

ScanEx Deputy General Director Olga Gershenzon talked about the space imagery technology application for public management on December 23 during the workshop at the Graduate School of Public Administration of the Moscow State University (GSPA MSU).

The audience learnt about technology innovations for city, region and industry management, about the possibilities of modern remote sensing satellites and of the system of operational monitoring from space, established in Russia, and why satellite imagery data, being the source of updated and unbiased information, have been introduced very slowly into the operations of public and private companies and how to overcome these problems, etc.

Issues pertaining to the application of satellite imagery data as evidence in courts intrigued the workshop participants. Same as the issues of national security, near real-time monitoring and reduction of emergency risks.

— Space data play an important role in decision-making nowadays. It is crucial to considerably extend their application in Russia. I could not even imagine before this workshop that the domestic technology has such achievements in this area, - marked First Deputy Director of the School Vladimir Eryomin.

GSPA MSU management not only displayed interest to contemporary space technologies, but to the possibility of organizing thematic educational seminars on the application of space data for GSPA school students as well. Olga Gershenzon also expressed hopes that the cooperation with the GSPA MSU will be carried on.

Workshop of O. Gershenzon “Modern Space Technologies for Decision-Making Optimization” continued the second autumn session of seminars held by the GSPA MSU initiative and aimed at discussion of leading trends in world economics and politics, of current public management issues, as well as at the extension of the range of professional and personal contacts.
