August 29, 2008 - South African delegation visits EUMETSAT A delegation of the South African Weather Service (SAWS), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Linda Makuleni, visited EUMETSAT on 28 August. The delegation met Dr. Lars Prahm, Director-General of EUMETSAT.
During the visit, EUMETSAT and SAWS officials reviewed the ongoing cooperation between their two organisations, focusing on the recognition of the SAWS training facilities in Pretoria as a World Meteorological Organization Centre of Excellence for satellite meteorology training, technical capacity-building in the framework of the African Monitoring of the Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) programme, and EUMETSAT data policy for commercial activities.
They also discussed each others' future plans and strategy
