Safe Software Adds AutoCAD Map3D 2011 Support

Vancouver, BC, April 27, 2010 – Safe Software today announced AutoCAD® Map3D 2011 support through the release of FME 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Close on the heels of Autodesk®'s 2011 product release, FME®, the leading spatial ETL (extract, transform and load) solution, is the first commercial product available to extend AutoCAD Map3D's capabilities through FDO 3.5, facilitating an uninterrupted upgrade path for users.

"Autodesk is pleased to see Safe's continuing support of FDO data connectivity," says Peter Rieks, Senior Product Manager, AEC Infrastructure at Autodesk. "With this timely release of FME, AutoCAD Map3D users continue to have direct access to more than 250 FME-supported formats as they adopt our latest versions."

For over a decade, FME technology has been an integrated part of AutoCAD Map3D. Safe provides this functionality both in FME Desktop, and in a free FME FDO Provider that reads nine key GIS formats - at no charge. With this latest release, FME 2010 SP1, Autodesk users can continue to save time and ensure data currency by directly connecting to external data sources, bypassing the need to import and create redundant copies of their datasets.

"This is another example of Safe's ongoing commitment to helping our customers take advantage of the latest and greatest applications," says Dale Lutz, Vice President of Development at Safe Software. "Plus, now that we are delivering FME updates via official Service Packs - in addition to our always-available daily beta builds - even users with beta use restrictions can access important new technologies without delay."

As part of Safe's ongoing commitment to maintain current and comprehensive compatibility with evolving formats and applications, FME remains backwards-compatible for users with earlier FDO versions.
