McLean, Va. – SPADAC, a leading provider of spatially-enhanced technology solutions, has been awarded a $1.1 million contract by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to support its Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare and Combating Terrorism programs to address Dynamic Threat Mapping. Building upon its patented Signature Analyst technology, SPADAC will work with ONR to develop a system that proactively predicts and maps future threats.
The objective of the system, called Behavioral Trajectories, is to predict shifts in enemy behavior by developing a decision aid that captures and analyzes both spatial location and time dynamics of events and background processes. This novel approach represents a new paradigm in the application of predictive analytics for threat profiling and supports the ONR’s mission of leading the Navy’s effort to develop future combat capabilities through the exploitation and application of science and technology in support of national security operations.
SPADAC, which has supported ONR as well as various Department of Defense organizations for more than six years, will provide research and development and software engineering to develop the solution. The contract has a base period of one year, with a one year option for additional development.
“SPADAC is eager to continue our work in support of the ONR efforts to enhance the ability of the Navy-Marine Corps team to conduct decisive operations,” said Mark Dumas, founder and CEO of SPADAC. “The total integrated SPADAC solution for ONR will dynamically map and forecast threat in a space-time environment, maximize existing ONR and government investments, and allow the warfighter to leverage the best and most innovative technology solutions available.”
Tasks to be addressed in the proposed work include:
* integrating spatial and temporal representations into one framework;
* implementing Vector Quantization into Signature Analyst to provide better predictive capabilities; and,
* proving experimentally that the resulting system can handle the volume and challenges with operational data and can be used by intelligence analysts and the warfighter to produce better predictive models.
Under the contract, SPADAC will provide a solution that extends its previous ONR efforts. Results of previous work SPADAC has done for ONR on the Advanced Analysis of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures, including causality, behavior modification and change detection, will be enhanced with temporal capabilities to not only identify threats, but to forecast the likelihood of future occurrences.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
