Route scheduling with PTV Intertour Compact

Karlsruhe, September 22, 2008. The trip optimization software PTV Intertour Compact, which was launched a year ago, has proven its efficiency in numerous applications, especially in the transport industry. Forwarding companies, such as Kühne und Nagel Logistics Langenau GmbH, and leading companies in the field of sanitary/plumbing and food as well as drugstore chains and armoured car services have opted for PTV Intertour Compact. Calculation examples show how companies can cope with the lack of qualified drivers, and high toll and diesel fuel prices. The software is designed to assist transport companies with up to 75 vehicles in scheduling their lorries, the routes and stop-off points. PTV will be presenting its software products at IAA Commercial Vehicles, stand E04 in hall 24.

No qualified drivers, soaring toll and diesel fuel prices: vehicle fleet operators have to cope with these problems every single day in order to offer transport services at competitive prices. Therefore, costs must be minimized right from the planning stage. Planners can no longer just rely on their experience and manually generated trip
schedules.

PTV Intertour Compact has become the market-leading solution for small and medium-sized vehicle fleet operators who want to optimize their routes and trips. The companies often have their own vehicle fleet and have to cope with numerous stop-off points and narrow time slots. The software can easily solve these problems.

A typical sample calculation when using PTV Intertour Compact for the planning process reveals a savings potential of 25 per cent compared with manually generated trip schedules. The software and its powerful algorithms help users minimize mileage and optimally allocate drivers and vehicles to the trips. Therefore, professional trip optimization software has become essential to cost-efficiently tackle the current issues in the transport industry. A few ten thousand euros can be saved which means that the investment of ?12,000.00 quickly pays off.
