RoadPilot database goes global on 3 continents

1 September 2009 - RoadPilot Limited has today announced the expansion of its GPS database of fixed and mobile speed camera locations to include Brazil, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. The inclusion of these three major global markets means the firm’s Omni database offers users unrivalled coverage of safety hotspots across the globe.

Consumers in these regions can access the data through RoadPilot’s own hardware devices – the diminutive micro and microGo speed camera locators – or through a recently-launched ‘combined speed camera and traffic alert’ application for Nokia Maps 3.0.

“These latest inclusions mean RoadPilot’s Omni database offers both our consumers and corporate partners increased global coverage,” comments James Flynn OBE, CEO RoadPilot. “In addition to expanding our reach to new territories around the world, we have also been consolidating our market-leading position in Europe, with a number of new countries to be added within the next three months, adding to the 21 territories already covered.”

Established in 2000, RoadPilot produced the world’s first GPS speed camera location device, and today its European database stretches from Tromsø in Norway to Taranto in Italy, and from Lisbon, Portugal, to Lublin, in Poland.

RoadPilot’s method of data acquisition differs from those of its competitors in that the firm’s team of dedicated surveyors physically visit each and every site in the database to ensure that every attribute – such as the exact GPS location, direction of camera, and local speed limit – is correct.

RoadPilot’s reputation for data reliability has been established through data provision agreements with some of the world’s leading organisations in the personal navigation, online mapping, routing and printed map sectors.
