Repo Company recovers stolen truck from hijacker

CRANFORD, NJ - November 20, 2009 - A Cleveland-based repo company, Monarch Recovery, quickly recovered a stolen tow truck recently using the tracking and reporting System "Vericom MRM" from Intergis.

The Vericom MRM fleet management system features in-vehicle GPS tracking devices that report vehicle location, speed and driver status in real time.

"Several weeks ago our driver (my son) went to repo a car from a garage which wasn't there and walked back to the tow truck," explains Monarch Recovery CEO Tim Murdock. "As he approached, a hijacker was sitting in the cab pointing a gun, then drove off."

Monarch immediately notified the police and worked with dispatchers -- with information from the Vericom MRM system that tracked the vehicle street by street. The truck was apprehended in five minutes - an outcome that Monarch is confident would not have happened as quickly, if at all, without the system.

Monarch originally installed the system on a few vehicles in their fleet of tow trucks in 2009. "The Vericom MRM units enable us to monitor driver activity, ensuring they're on schedule, that they're making their assigned stops and that they're not using the trucks other than for our business," says Murdock.

Intergis will be exhibiting at the American Towman Exposition, November 21-22, 2009 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland. Booth #117
