This combination has opened up new perspectives in standardization, handling and interoperability for professional users. With ArcFM™ UT, utility companies have a versatile, highly scalable and powerful product suite for their asset and network data in terms of high-end editing and analyzing, viewing, mobile & web use and integration.

New features / highlights / changes for this version:

General Information about ArcFM UT 9.2.2 SP1

* This version requires ArcGIS V9.2 und ArcSDE V9.2, both Service Pack 5.
* Regarding the list of corrected errors, please consult the release notes

ArcFM UT Mobile

* The ArcFM UT specific server extensions of the replication, synchronization and distribution mechanisms are released in this version as a product.

ArcFM UT Web

* The UT Web application has been upgraded to use GIS-Portal 3.3 and WMPS 6.2.1.15 and includes thus the new functionality and bug fixes in those versions. The main functional improvement in 9.2.2 SP1 is the availability of the network tracing functionality.

ArcFM UT IGEN Integration

* ArcFM UT IGEN is the tool to generalize networks: An independent batch generalization component is introduced. Furthermore, corrections made due to errors reported in the earlier project specific variant of the generalization were ported to the current product version.

Create Topological List

* This is a new network trace tool. This function searches the topological path between two nodes and returns the found path elements in their topological order.

Longitudinal Section Profiles

* A new functional module is provided, with which you can create and edit longitudinal section profiles.

Adopt Line Attributes

* Extension of the “line create” functionality that takes the values of an existing line as defaults for the creation of new lines.

Several New Features in Schema Tool

ArcFM UT Performance Measuring Tool

* Tool to measure automatically response time for defined actions (load stored display, move to extend, activate map cache) in the GeoClient (ArcFM UT Desktop) and in the AttributeClient (ArcFM UT Attribute Editor).

HIOB Rule-Based Test Tool

* HIOB is an intelligent, rule-based test tool which lets you inspect the parameterization of your ArcFM UT Dictionary as well as the integrity of your geographical and attribute data.

Statistics for Regulating Authority

* The functions for exporting VDN and BNA (German Regulating Authority) statistics now support Excel format. The Excel data is then used for a plausibility check before macros convert it into the format required by the regulating authority.

Rotation of Features

* The existing function to rotate according to a numerical value was extended to also align features with respect to others.

Enhancement of „PreProcess“-UserExits

* It's possible to preset location, district and assignments via the „PreProcess“-UserExits now. This functionality is available for Create, Connect and Update.

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
