Brandenburg / Havel, Germany, March 18, 2010 – RapidEye, the only geospatial solutions provider to own and operate a constellation of five identical Earth Observation satellites, announced today that a partnership agreement has been recently signed with Florida-based Harris Corporation’s Government Communications
Systems Division.
Harris Corporation has a long and interesting history, beginning as the Harris Automatic Press Company in 1895. It has grown, changed and adapted over the last century into an international communications and information technology company that produces wireless equipment, electronic systems, and both terrestrial and spaceborne antennas for use in the government, defense, and commercial sectors.
“We are proud to introduce Harris Corporation as our service partner and a customer of our data,” commented John Ahlrichs, Vice President of RapidEye. “Our 5 meter resolution data is already being incorporated into Harris' TrueTerrain™ true-color orthomosaic products for the visualization-simulation and mapping markets. With their experience and know-how, Harris Corporation will be able to offer new, image based products covering large areas to their global customer base. RapidEye is very focused on expanding awareness of its products in those markets, and Harris will surely be instrumental in helping us reach that goal.”
“RapidEye’s unique satellite constellation of 5-band multispectral 5 meter data provides a new source of commercial imagery that will allow us to build a suite of value-added products to better serve our commercial and governmental customers alike,” said Tom Freeberg, Director of Geospatial Programs, Harris Government Communications Systems Division. “We are excited about this agreement with RapidEye and look forward to supporting many projects utilizing their data in the coming years.”
RapidEye's worldwide network of partners and distributors is continuously growing to provide customers an avenue to purchase RapidEye products in their own region and in their own language. You can follow the progress of RapidEye's partner team by visiting the link below.
