Aurora, CO – September 17, 2009 – Merrick & Company announced the election of Brian Raber, CMS, GISP, GLS, vice president and head of the firm’s GeoSpatial Solutions business unit, to Merrick’s Board of Directors. Prior to the election, Raber served as board recorder for two years and he will serve on the board until 2010. He has been with Merrick since 1991 and was promoted to vice president in 1994.

“Brian is a great addition to Merrick’s Board. He brings significant global market knowledge of the geospatial industry to our board discussions. The other directors and I look forward to working with him,” according to Ralph W. Christie, Jr. P.E., board chair, president, and chief executive officer of Merrick & Company.

Raber’s objective at Merrick has been to expand the services offered by the GeoSpatial Solutions business unit and over the past 13 years, sales have increased from $2.5 million to over $18 million by introducing new technology and expanding into Latin America. Merrick is a leader in the use of digital aerial photography, light detection and ranging (LiDAR), land surveying, and multi-sensor data fusion to provide accurate and high fidelity mapping data for a variety of project applications from energy and transportation to water resource management, military and intelligence, and environmental uses.

Raber received his bachelor’s degree in geography from West Virginia University and his master’s degree in geography from the University of Idaho. Raber is also president of Merrick Advanced Photogrammetry of the Americas and is a member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado, and the Rocky Mountain Chapter of ASPRS.
