After a first partnership set up in 2008 as part of the French cartographic web portal www.geoportail.fr, PlanetObserver and the French Cartographic Institute (IGN) sign a new agreement for the cross-distribution of their geodata.
PlanetObserver benefits from the BD ORTHO, a complete set of aerial photography produced by IGN covering the whole French territory with a 50cm resolution. From this data source that is regularly updated, PlanetObserver produces new mosaics of France in aerial photography, with a 2 meter resolution.
PlanetObserver offers these aerial views processed in natural colours in all its communication products :
- Floor maps printed with aerial photography down to the scale of 1/10,000 ; printed floors are great communication tools, that can be used by cities and local authorities to promote their territory during tradeshows and special events.
- 'PlanetObserver 3D’ virtual globe programme, featuring PlanetObserver global satellite images, combined with IGN aerial views ; this unique visual solution is perfectly adapted to promote any issue and territory in a highly interactive way.
- High definition video production, with high resolution aerial photography ; a dynamic way to communicate on a territory or city.
IGN adds PlanetObserver satellite imagery datasets of France at 15m resolution, and the whole world at 15m resolution, to its geodata range. Those georeferenced datasets are totally complementary to the BD ORTHO and the vector data offered by IGN. IGN clients can access PlanetObserver satellite images in the pro section of the website www.ign.fr.
About PlanetObserver:
From its setting-up in 1989, the French company PlanetObserver specialises in satellite imagery processing and in the production of mosaics in natural colours. PlanetObserver offers today a global dataset at 15m resolution, the first satellite imagery mosaic featuring the planet in natural colours. Applications for PlanetObserver satellite images range from printed floor maps, 3D visualisation and navigation software solutions, web mapping, cartography, special events, exhibitions, etc.
