Pemex selects Telvent for centralized management

March 15, 2010 - Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, has announced today the signature of a new contract with Pemex, the national energy company in Mexico. Telvent will install its supervision, control and data acquisition system OASyS SCADA to manage seven multiproduct pipelines of the National Oil Pipeline Network of Pemex Refinación. Unlike oil pipelines that transport crude oil only, product pipelines transport various liquid hydrocarbons.

One of the main strategy aims of Pemex, is enhanced efficiency and productivity through a centralized management of its entire gas and oil transportation pipeline network. The project “One Unique SCADA”, aims the unification of the control, supervision and data acquisition activities of the National Transport Network, as a result of a challenging growing market that requires better service and competitiveness.

As a component of this global project, Telvent will install its SCADA system for the management of seven multiproduct pipelines of Pemex Refinación. Telvent will optimize the operation by utilizing the current infrastructure operating with the Telvent OASyS SCADA system that today is managing the 12,400 km natural gas and LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) pipeline of Pemex Gas y Petroquímica Básica.

The new system will redundantly and accurately centralize the real time control of operative data such as pressure, temperature or composition from transport, storage and distribution activities from different infrastructures geographically dispersed. The complete information will be easily available in a unified and optimized way to feed the company information systems.

The new Telvent system will yield greater security in the operation of facilities, mitigating risks for personnel, local communities, and the environment.

Manuel Sánchez Ortega, Telvent’s Chairman and CEO, stressed the significance of this new contract, pointing out that it “definitely consolidates Telvent´s technological alliance with Pemex”. “Telvent systems have already demonstrated that they directly contribute to enhanced efficiencies in the energy business”.

Operating in Mexico since 1990, Telvent has executed projects involving the development of control, information and management systems in diverse Mexican sectors. Telvent is particularly dominant in the oil and gas industry, having led projects in the areas of operation, production, transportation and distribution of hydrocarbon products.
