Aurora, Colorado – October 7, 2009 –Jennifer Owens has joined Merrick & Company an $85 million engineering, architecture, construction management, and geospatial solutions firm with offices in 11 cities, as the new safety officer. In this newly created position, she will be responsible for administration, development, monitoring and maintaining of the organizational-wide safety program. The responsibility of this position also includes mitigating insurance losses and helping to reduce insurance premium costs through an effective safety management program.
Owens previously worked for five and a half years with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) in Colorado Springs, CO as a risk analyst/safety coordinator. Owens developed and managed safety policies and provided training for the USOC Emergency Response Team. Prior to that, Owens was a personal lines underwriter/district trainer for Farmers Insurance, where she provided training on personal lines underwriting rules and regulations and evaluated policy applications to determine quality of risk. Owens received a B.S.B.A. in Human Resource and Organizational Management from the University of Colorado. Owens has also obtained the Associate in Risk Management certification. She is a board member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) for the Rocky Mountain Chapter.
