OpenGeo Support for Multiple Cloud Infrastructures

OpenGeo, the leader in open source geospatial web services, announces the release of OpenGeo Suite Cloud Edition in collaboration with cloud technology innovator Skygone Inc.

OpenGeo Suite Cloud Edition is optimized for cloud infrastructure, with special features preconfigured for scalability, and performance enhancements already installed. Available with a monthly pricing option, there are no up-front fees or long contracts to commit to, and the Cloud Edition includes everything required for deployment of the OpenGeo Suite.

The OpenGeo Suite brings together the stability, flexibility and performance of PostGIS, GeoServer, GeoWebCache, OpenLayers, and GeoExt into a single package. The Cloud Edition is configured, optimized, and deployed to customers on Skygone Cloud as a fully supported monthly, pay-as-you-go subscription. OpenGeo Suite Cloud Edition includes software, technical support, unlimited bug fixes, and IT infrastructure – including, a cloud server instance, data storage, and bandwidth provided by the geo-savvy IT experts at Skygone.

To meet the growing need for on-demand access to enterprise-class geospatial software, Skygone and OpenGeo have created three deployment options for OpenGeo Suite Cloud Edition, including: Community, Enterprise, and Auto-Scaling. These options allow end-users to choose the level of service they require to manage and deliver their geospatial data.

“Our mission is to make geospatial information more open – publicly available and accessible on compelling platforms that people want. We are thrilled with the cloud computing power and flexibility Skygone allows us to offer our clients,” said Chris Holmes, President of OpenGeo. “The OpenGeo Suite Cloud Edition is a natural extension of the extensive work we've done on installers, and the next step in making it as easy as possible for people to get started with a supported open source geospatial stack.”

“Skygone has always believed that the true value of cloud computing is simplified application delivery and management,” said Ryan Hughes, CEO of Skygone. “OpenGeo has done an outstanding job enabling enterprises to quickly and easily adopt open source geospatial technology as their platform of choice. Skygone is extremely excited to help ease their customer’s adoption one step further by offering a preconfigured, on-demand, cloud deployment option that takes IT burden off the customer.”
