Oklahoma DOT Utilizing ERDAS Technology

Norcross, GA — Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has selected ERDAS’ LPS software to meet its growing need for creation of photogrammetric products capable of meeting engineering grade accuracy.

LPS is ERDAS’ signature photogrammetry solution, seamlessly integrating software tools to streamline production-mapping workflows. ODOT will also utilize the PRO600 feature extraction module for performing precise measurements of roads and surface features. In addition, ODOT is also implementing LPS Stereo, LPS Automatic Terrain Extraction, LPS Terrain Editor and ERDAS MosaicPro.

ODOT has jurisdiction over state roads, interstates and US Highways within the state of Oklahoma. This includes adjacent overpasses and ramps and traffic control devices, as well as construction and maintenance operations. By providing ODOT engineers with photogrammetry and CADD products at design scale, ODOT ensures that the state is equipped for ongoing improvements in road safety and traffic management.

“LPS has all the tools to meet ODOT’s mapping needs, to aid in improving our mapping accuracies and maintain the quality of the modeling that we require,” said Leroy Tackett, Assistant Chief of Surveys, ODOT. “This comprehensive photogrammetry solution provides ODOT with leading technology. This will aid in cost effectiveness and provide a solution for developing the ground model for design.”

“ODOT has increased its geospatial investment and capabilities with LPS,” said Christopher Tucker, Senior Vice President, Americas and National Programs, ERDAS. “LPS allows ODOT to compile and create mapping products for designing new roads, re-designing existing roads and general support of engineering and survey activities.”
