New partnership brings data quality to Utilities

1Spatial and QC Data announce a partnership to provide an innovative data quality solution for the UK and Irish utilities marketplace.

The partnership unites industry knowledge, technical expertise and innovative technology to deliver a combined software and services solution for data quality auditing and improvement. Utility organisations working in gas, electricity, water or telecommunications in the UK and Ireland can now take advantage of this pioneering approach.

Asset data underpins the performance of an entire organisation, affecting operational efficiency, safety, return on investment and regulatory compliance. 1Spatial and QC Data have a shared commitment to ensuring utility organisations can access the most accurate asset data possible and the benefits that this brings, such as improved regulatory compliance and operational cost savings.

QC Data’s partnership with 1Spatial also means that they are now a member of the growing 1Spatial Community, a group of like-minded organisations that offer standards-based, flexible, open and interoperable solutions. QC Data is an Industry Partner, joining organisations such as Hewlett Packard and Safe Software in providing a best-of-breed approach and complementary solutions with 1Spatial.

Ian Wainwright, Managing Director, QC Data commented:

"This partnership, and the launch of the Asset Conformance Analysis service, cements a relationship between our companies in which mutual respect for the talents and capabilities of both organisations has grown in an atmosphere of genuine collaboration focussed on developing the optimum data improvement capability to support the utilities industry."

Steven Ramage, Business Development Director and lead contact for the 1Spatial Community added:

"We are delighted to confirm QC Data as an Industry Partner. Utility organisations can now benefit from the combination of our experience and expertise for automated and manual solutions, as well as the specialist technology offered through our joint Asset Conformance Analysis service. The 1Spatial Community will also be strengthened by their presence and contribution to the latest industry initiatives."

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
