NAVTEQ Map and Speed Limit Data For Coyote

Barcelona (Spain) - 15-18 February 2010 – NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions is now supplying the NAVTEQ Map along with its Speed Limits product to Coyote Systems for the new model in its very popular range of safety camera warning systems. With the introduction of the Coyote Mini V.2, this product has developed into a multi-tasking device which, amongst other functions, permanently displays the speed limit to help drivers travel safely within the posted limits.

A key element of the Coyote Mini’s success is the participation of the user community who are continually inputting not only information on the location of safety cameras, but also warnings of traffic congestion or incidents and are given a rating based on the ongoing quality of their information. Each device is equipped with a GSM/GPRS modem for two way communication – enabling drivers to submit information to the Coyote Systems’ server which in turn regularly updates devices with the latest details.

“The Coyote Mini V2 uses satellite technology and map-matching to pinpoint exactly where the vehicle is on the road,” explained Fabien Pierlot, CEO and Co-Founder of Coyote Systems’. “This position is constantly matched with the system’s database of safety camera locations and traffic information provided by our user community. The driver is then automatically alerted when approaching one of these sites. Accurate speed limit data is vital, which is why we chose to source it from NAVTEQ. “

With a large colour screen, the device can be configured without using a PC or the internet and can be personalised to suit individual drivers. Having established a firm consumer base in France, Coyote Systems is rolling out the product into Benelux, the UK, Spain and Italy in the coming months and continues to expand its pan-European consumer community towards the half a million mark.
