NAVTEQ Map Data to Support ORTEC Global Expansion

Veldhoven, November 4, 2008 – NAVTEQ a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, has renewed a contract with ORTEC to expand its map data globally. This data will enable ORTEC, the resource planning and optimisation specialist, to fully increase its international operations into areas beyond Europe and North America.

ORTEC is enjoying excellent growth and has recently added to its USA, German, French, Dutch and Belgian bases, new offices in Romania for Central and Eastern Europe and the in UK for UK and Ireland. “Based on NAVTEQ’s worldwide reach we can now fully expand our vehicle routing and dispatch operations across the globe. Existing customers can now also use our solutions for even more countries which will in turn provide them with a higher return on their investment,” explained Ronald Buijsse, ORTEC Marketing Director.

ORTEC solutions result in optimised fleet routing and dispatch, vehicle and pallet loading, workforce scheduling, delivery forecasting and network planning. Due to ORTEC's software, over 150,000 trucks and over 250.000 employees from more than 1000 organisations worldwide are more effectively and efficiently managed, reaching higher customer satisfaction levels, higher revenues and lower cost. “In addition, CO2 savings are realised up to 400.000 tons a year,” adds Ronald Buijsse. “Our customers save millions of liters of diesel annually. The calculation of the CO2 reduction is based on an average distance of 100,000 km that a truck travels each year against an average CO2 discharge of 700 gram/km per truck.”

“NAVTEQ is always keen to assist customers with their global expansion. Already a rapidly expanding company, ORTEC can now fully explore its vehicle routing and dispatch operations into the Middle East, Australia, Asia, Africa and South America with the help of NAVTEQ map data,” added Peter Beaumont, NAVTEQ Customer Marketing Director Enterprise Europe. “In addition, access to global mapping will increase the value proposition for organisations already using ORTEC software.”
