Chicago, IL - January 7th 2010 - NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions has been chosen to provide data for the recently launched European edition of the Geoscape® Intelligence System - an online platform to support strategic and tactical decision making for marketing, media, distribution and strategic planning.
Providing robust demographic, economic and retail analytics across 40 European countries*, Geoscape® Intelligence System joins NAVTEQ administrative boundaries and matches them with socio-demographic and lifestyle data to produce mapping and reporting on areas of interest to target groups across Europe. Street maps and data from NAVTEQ are also used to create drive-time catchments for retail trade area analysis and for geocoding uploaded customer files and/or retail locations in real time.
“The system was designed to make it easy for non-technical marketing professionals to develop analysis across borders and throughout Europe,” explained Lex ten Veen, general manager of Geoscape Europe. “To achieve this we needed accurate, detailed street maps, precise administrative boundaries plus seamless cross-border map coverage, all of which are an integral part of the NAVTEQ map specification. We have worked with NAVTEQ for several years and utilise the company’s maps in various other applications and recognise that we share a common desire for excellence.”
Other Geoscape® Intelligence System Europe features include: target group descriptive profiles and location targeting; market potential measurement from country down to neighbourhood level; data display in dynamic, colour-coded maps showing roads, land features, terrain and satellite views; multi-dimensional database drill-down reporting; and ROI analytics using potential data and sales results.
“This new platform provides instant insights into marketing, media and distribution challenges across Europe, helping to develop understanding and market share in a culturally diverse population,” added Peter Beaumont, customer marketing director, enterprise EMEA, NAVTEQ. “NAVTEQ works to bring local conditions and circumstances together into its single worldwide specification so its data can effectively support applications such as Geoscape’s which cross international borders.”
Worldwide access to Geoscape® Intelligence System Europe is available via standard internet browser and can produce results very quickly with minimal instruction. The data covered by the system includes demographics and consumer spending, purchasing power, lifestyle data plus retail sales - additional industry specific data will be added to the system in 2010.
